What Is Arrests.org Indiana — And Why It’s Not Enough

indiana.arrests.org is a private mugshot aggregator that scrapes publicly available booking data from Indiana county jails. It has no government affiliation and frequently shows listings where charges were dismissed years ago.

⚠️ Key Warning: indiana.arrests.org shows bookings, NOT outcomes. A person found not guilty or whose charges were dismissed still shows up. Always verify through the county court system or public.courts.in.gov.

Section 04

Indiana Bail & Bond — Arrest to Release

🔴 ALL JAIL CALLS ARE RECORDED. Prosecutors actively monitor jail phone calls. Never discuss case details. Never say “I did it” or “I’m sorry.” Only logistics: lawyer, bail, bills, childcare.
🚔

1. Arrest & Booking (0–6 hours)

Transported to county jail. Fingerprints, mugshot, property inventory. Check jail roster 2–4 hours after arrest.

⚖️

2. Initial Hearing

Judge sets bail. Indiana uses a bail schedule for many offenses. An attorney at this hearing can argue for lower bail or release on own recognizance (OR).

💰

3. Post Bond

Cash: Full amount (refunded after case). Surety: 10% non-refundable to licensed bondsman. OR/ROR: Judge releases on promise to appear. 10% deposit: In some Indiana courts, you can post 10% of the bond directly to the court (refundable minus fees).

🔓

4. Release (2–8 hours after posting)

Processing varies. Weekends/holidays slower. Get court date in writing.

💡 Indiana 10% Deposit Option: Many Indiana courts allow you to post 10% of the bond directly to the court (not a bondsman). This money is refundable (minus a small admin fee) after the case concludes — unlike a bondsman’s 10% which is gone forever. Ask the court clerk about this option before calling a bondsman.

Visitation, Commissary & Phone Calls — Indiana Jails

Visitation

  • 📅Marion County: Visit scheduling through the Indy.gov jail portal. Video visitation via Securus also available.
  • 📅Allen County: Inmate search with visit info at allencountysheriff.org.
  • 🪪Valid government photo ID required. Conservative dress code. No phones, cameras, food.
  • 📹Most Indiana facilities offer video visits through Securus or GTL/GettingOut.

Commissary (Send Money)

  • 💳IDOC State Prisons: JPay (online, app, phone: 1-800-574-8333, or MoneyGram/Walmart). Also Access Corrections.
  • 💳County Jails: Vary by facility — most use JPay, GTL, or lobby kiosks. Call the jail directly for their specific vendor.

Phone Calls

  • 📞All calls outbound only & recorded. Fund a prepaid account BEFORE the inmate calls — unfunded calls drop.
  • 📞Providers: Securus, GTL/GettingOut, or facility-specific vendor.
  • 🔔VINELink Indiana: Free custody alerts at vinelink.com — get notified when an inmate is released or transferred.

Indiana Court Case Search — Check Case Status

⚖ Indiana Courts — Odyssey Case Search

OFFICIAL STATEWIDE

Search criminal case records for any Indiana county court. Shows case status, court dates, charges, and dispositions.
public.courts.in.gov →

💡 Why this matters: Arrests.org shows bookings. Court records show outcomes — whether charges were filed, dismissed, or resulted in conviction. Always check public.courts.in.gov before drawing conclusions from a mugshot site.
Section 07
